About Larry Doyle

Larry Doyle is a Sacramento-based attorney, lobbyist, writer and educator.

Larry is the long-time Chief Legislative Counsel for the State Bar of California (18 years), where he represented the Bar’s Board of Governors before the Legislature and established the Bar’s practice sections (now the practice sections of the California Lawyers Association) as a valuable and respected force with regard to legislation in their issue areas.  Larry subsequently spent 10 years as lobbyist for the Conference of California Bar Associations (CCBA), the former Conference of Delegates of the State Bar.  Prior to that he served the California Legislature in a variety of capacities, including Chief Consultant to an Assembly policy committee, parliamentarian to the Assembly Minority Caucus, and speechwriter to two Assembly Minority Leaders.  He has also been a political campaign operative and Sports Editor of Vermont’s second-largest daily newspaper.

Larry recently completed a four-year term as an appointed member of the State Bar of California’s Standing Committee on Professional Responsibility and Conduct (COPRAC). He is a member of the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers (APRL) and the Dartmouth Lawyers Association. He has written numerous articles and presented over 35 courses on attorney ethics, legislative process and procedure, and related topics.

Mr. Doyle is a graduate of Dartmouth College, Magna cum Laude, and of the University of Pacific’s McGeorge School of Law.
